ICMA Webinar December 2021 - Recording

Turning Pandemic Pain Points into Sustainable Solutions

ICMA Webinar Image 3

Beyond answering the question of how to best utilize relief funding, comes the question of how municipalities will use lessons learned in a time of extreme crisis to create better solutions for their agencies and the communities they serve moving forward. We spoke with economic development leaders who put processes and systems in place to answer the most urgent of needs in their communities, which led them to recognize that they, like many, were uncovering issues that predated COVID.

In this webinar recorded in December 2021, we enter into a conversation with Doug Kinley III, Management Specialist, City of La Quinta, CA, and Colleen Kardasz, Assistant Director, Loudoun County, VA.

They shared how they:

  • dealt with pain points they encountered in the early months of the pandemic,
  • managed grant programs to address critical needs,
  • evolved their responses, systems, and processes, and
  • identified opportunities to learn, connect, and create sustainable solutions that will long outlive this pandemic.

Additionally, we detailed the systems they put in place in advance of the next crisis, which will enable them to be better prepared and lessen the impact on their communities.
